To answer your question, yes that COULD be the case, or your seals could just have let some air in, it happens. If when bled there is air in the system you need to find out WHERE it came from. Most likely some little seal in there has just had it's day.
Logical steps from here for both of you:
1. Check your reservoir and see if the fluid is dirty rather then nice and clear.
2. Look for any wetness anywhere in the system your able to check.
3. Bleed it or have someone bleed it for you.
4. Make a call from there as to what the issue is depending on your findings.
