If it's for our car, go buy a generic one from Autozone. It'll do the job. After the first time, just hand-torque the filter. You should be able to get it off again with just hand-strength later too. (i.e., you could technically return the filter wrench after one use).

that's what i did...

the filter says 15-18lbs of torque or 7/8 of a turn. technically, 7/8 of a turn is 87% of a full rotation right? i cannot get that once my filter gasket makes contact. i'm not that strong...

You don't really need to follow that rule, to be completely honest with you. I just hand-tighten as hard as I can. Adding a little too much OR too little torque won't make-or-break your oil change (as long as the oil filter doesn't come rattling off).

Also, on this car specifically, the filter wrench is easy to turn in the loosening direction, but harder in the tightening direction (I tried the first time, it just was not working out, that's why I ended up hand-tightening).

Of course I'm not responsible for your car specifically, but take my word that I've done 3 oil changes on my S (and countless more on my other cars) using this method. I've only had ONE problem, and that was from OVER-torquing a filter on my Mustang (by hand, not using a wrench). I tightened to the point that the little rubber gasket squeezed out, and when I started the car oil sprayed everywhere and I had to start all over.
