Default Takata Harnesses

Quick question, do I use long or short version?

I don't have a harness bar.

....and where do I bolt the harness to?

Short.

One side bolts to where the seat belt buckle is.
The other side bolts to where the seat belt bolts down to the car.

Without a harness bar I'm not sure where you would bolt the two shoulder straps....

usually short version for 2 seaters.

but there really isn't anywhere to bolt the harnesses to (safely) w/o a harness bar of some sort. And if you want to get technical, even roll bars like the one i have (safety 21) and some harddog roll bars for example WITH harness bars don't have the harness bar in the optimal location for safety (needs to sit lower most of the time).

Just get a roll bar. The only PROPER way (other ways work but there is only one proper, safe way) is to attach to a harness bar. And Chris is right, the belt has to sit at the right angle for it to work right. Please dont half-ass this, its something related to safety!!!!

Roll bars have been selling for some good prices lately too!

You never know what could happen.

depends on where you would end up mounting the harnesses to if you chose not to use a roll bar.

*The mounting point might not be strong enough (could rip out in an accident).
* the belt could have kinks in it (for example when people run harnesses through the center portion of the headrest on stock seats ) so the load is unevenly distributed throughout the belt in an accident = belt failure and/or bodily injury.
* Mounting points in the wrong areas usually create dangerous situations for your body even if you don't fly out of the seat (cuts, internal organ damage, etc)

i'm sure there are more things that can happen, but this is all i can think of for now.

BebZ0rZ is correct. With the harness in the incorrect angle in the event of a crash there is the possibility of compressing your spine = not good.
