Default 2010 Jetta TDI - Maunual ?

So - I've been searching for a new DD - I currently own a 2005 Acura RSX its been great for 5 years and a 160,000 + miles but its getting to the point where I will need to replace breaks, tires, cv joins, clutch all with-in the next 10,000 miles. The car has been a great workhorse but its getting to be that time.

New DD will be used mostly for work. I am an Outside BTB sales exec - My clients are mid size offices 10-60 employees and large nonprofits so ideally something adult and not flashy looking would be the right fit. So no MS3/ WRX's please!

Has anyone else considered the TDI - I drive roughly 25,000 miles a year and I can get a left over 2010 for around 21,500 with 0.00 % financing for 60 months. Any other thoughts? Experience? recommendations?

Requirements - New, 4dr, 6 speed manual, prefer upmarket fit and finish, free maint. Atleast 28 mpg combined with conservative driving. DSG/Stereophonic not considered

I'd love other thoughts experiences for those who have purchased an non enthusiast car for a DD in a similar price bracket - Budget of 20-26,000 K

Thanks in advance for reading/comments

^ I recommend any TDI over any idiotic hybrid-powered cars period.

-> I too strongly consider the Jetta TDI Sportwagen 6M/T (with that epic moonroof!) in my fleet in the near future.

-> 28mpg!? Pssh! Thats peanuts on the TDI, you will average an easy 40's on normal driving.

-> Plus that 'sign-then-drive' plus that 'care-free' maintenance plan might be a good deal also.

-> Opt for the standard 16in. wheels for the Audi-grade ride (or any of those optional wheels for BMW ride quality), that epic moonroof on the wagen model, that 6M/T, and be sure to keep it under strict maintenance after the plan goes out.

-> And I will place this license plate on my TDI:

My dad has got an 09 TDI 6 Speed. He recently got a bullydog chip for it and even with essentially 20 extra HP he still hit 50 mpg coming home from a 2 hour trip. He drives about 25-30k miles a year and so far he really enjoys the car.

Great car and great price if you can get one for 21k. I test drove a 2010 a couple of weeks ago and loved it! You should get nearly 50 mpg with mixed city/highway driving. The torque is really nice.

It's only been a few months since I sold my 2000 Golf TDI manual. I had 190,000 + miles on it and would have trusted it for a cross country trip. It was very reliable. I stopped for fuel every 600 or so miles and was often over 50mpg's per tank.

VW=some day all will bow at the Altar of Wolfsburg. TDIs are great choices for DD. I ended up getting a Passat as my DD, but the diesels are great.

I have driven both the DSG and manual, and I think that manual is better with the diesel than the DSG.

My wife has a '10 Jetta TDI Cup Edition that we picked up in July. Great car and really great mileage.

She absolutely loves it and so do I.

That wagon model with the sunroof and leather is absolute tits for a dd fam wag. For a guy weary of all that is gerkan, I'd love to have a tdi in my fleet if I jad a 30 mile+ commute and no comp car.

I'm looking to buy a TDI for my father. I'm going to the dealership tomorrow. How did you get that $20,500 offer? Was there a lot of haggling? The dealer near my dad has about four TDIs. I'd like a 2010 model so I can take advantage of the 0%/60 mo.

What are the options on it? Seems like a sweet deal. Just looking to get an idea of their current market. He'd like a manual. That's about it. Wagon preferred but if it's decently more money than a sedan, we'll grab the sedan.
