I prefer their NA Straight 6s better anyway. Not saying that the turbo 6s aren't great, but a BMW NA 6 is a wonderful thing.

I'm kind of, sort of shopping, and yeah, considering a brand I said I wouldn't be revisiting anytime soon
Anyway, this issue is really keeping me from any of the turbo 6's from BMW. It's not that it's covered by warranty, it's the hassle and time.

Yeah, any HP deficit vs. the M models (i.e., 335/135 vs. M3) can be made up for ~$1000 or so. Of course, there are a dozen other reasons why the M is better package, but it is something to consider when you factor in the "M Premium".

The V8 options certainly would be favorable. I just sold my 650i... that engine was great. No lack of torque. Peeling out from 3rd wasn't impossible.

There might be alot of reasons to not buy one, but the HPFP wouldn't keep from buying one just by itself. There seem to be people that have had headaches because of the issue, I've heard of owners having it replaced multiple times. It seems to be a crap shoot as to who and why. Some say it's the ethanol content of the gas, some think it my be the pump's inability to maintain high pressure in the lines when the car sits. Some people never have any problems.
I've had my 2009 335i for almost 2 years and had the pump replaced about 6 months ago. Never failed, the car just went from starting instantly to cranking for a second or 2 before starting. Rough idle for a few seconds a couple times. Dealer replaced with no questions and I've never had any issues since.
The performance potential for this car is ridiculous. A few thousand dollars in bolt-ons that you can install in a weekend can add 100HP and 100+ft/lbs of torque. I'm just running a simple tune and intake and even with sticky 265's in back I can break the tires loose at almost any speed in 1st and 2nd gear, and even get the T/C light in 3rd sometimes. The one big negative with this platform is the lack of a true limited slip diff. Fixable but $$. Although it's relative, I'm sure I spent $10k on my S getting to 350hp.
