Default 2012 GT vs 2012 X

Which car would you choose to replace your daily driver S2000?

Bring up as many points as you want

Background for your decision: you live in CA or FL, the car is your daily driver, you are single and could care less for the extra seats. Bring up as many argument points as you must, but be able to back them up.

EVO without a real debate.

I think the new Mustangs are ugly.

I also prefer the way the EVO drives over the Stang, so this would be a slam dunk no brainer for me. I don't care if the Mustang is faster in a straight line

I didn't vote for either. I had a 2012 gt in the shop the other day to install a new borla exhaust and I was not impressed. There had been improvements over the old cars in terms of ride quality and smoothness, but the actual build quality was, for lack of a better word, shit. Super cheap plastics throughout, and like the fellow above said, the styling was abismal. Also this car was automatic.Let me tell you it shifted like poo. Driveline was already sloppy at 1200 miles, and the 2nd to 1st downshift produced a loud audible thunk from the rear. The rear axle tube was leaking gear oil where its pressed into the housing as well. On the good side the motor was silky smooth, and it was definately more powerful than the older cars. As far as the Mitsubishi goes i've never really been a fan of any of there products, have always been cheap and unreliable. To much Chrysler influence in there mechanics and I've always found Evo's to be harsh and uncomfortable. Also the styling is not my cup of tea here either. There are lots of great choices out there though, I would consider Hyundai Genesis, Lexus IS250, Subaru Imprezza, or perhaps the new Subaru BRZ. Personally I would never buy a new car as the huge depreciation loss is more than I could take. Buy one a few years old with low miles, and laugh all the way to the bank.

Tough choice really. I think your best bet is to drive both and see which is the better fit for you personally.

The new Mustangs are putting up impressive handling numbers and that's about the only thing the Evo would have on them. Both cars aren't exactly known for their interior quality but I think the Mustang will be slightly better in that regard.

Straight-line performance has a clear winner. Handling not so much. The looks are entirely subjective but I think the new Mustang is one of the nicest new designs around. I'm biased toward coupes personally. The Mustang will get better gas mileage so that would be nice. Also, that V8 sound is nice especially with a mild exhaust setup.

I may be mistaken but new Evos tend to cost upwards of $36k? New GTs can be had for right at $30 so the Mustang is also a better value. I'd give the reliability nod to the Ford as well. If you plan on owning out of warranty this would be a big factor for lifetime running cost.

Still I can't definitively say the Mustang. The Evos are a turbo-back exhaust and tune away from 310-330awhp which would easily make up for and surpass the lost straight-line ground of the Mustang in a 1/4 mile type race. The AWD launch would be a lot of fun too. I miss the bad weather versatility my VR4 offered.

Given these two choices, Evo for me. I can't get past how big the Mustang looks and feels.

The thing could go like a 458, but I still wouldn't enjoy driving one. I can see how other people would, but I can't help thinking the car would be awesome at 9/10ths scale.

Neither. FR-S/BRZ will be my S2k replacement. That or another S2k!

I like the new 5.0 but between EVO or this, definitely EVO for me.

Ok ill bite. Stang. Cheaper i prefer the styling, i prefer the interior although i prefer just the seats in the evo, just as fast, id argue more reliable and cheaper to maintain in the long run.
Styling wise, really guys? An evo? With its large ass wing, spiky roof, etc etc? At least you could downplay a stang, the evo is just, oh nvm, im on an import forum. But that is totally subjective.
If anyone thinks the evos interior is something to brag about, they need to look at i again. Same goes for the wrxs too. For reliability, hmm, 2.x liter high strung turbo producing over 300hp, from mitsubishi, or 5.0l v8 from a truck making over 400, hmm wonder which one will be more reliable and cheaper to operate.
