2012 GT vs 2012 X
In this and a number of other threads I've heard descriptions of the quality of the Mustang's interior that are all over the map. Is this in part a case of which interior you look at? I've noticed this with both the 2006 Accord and with the current Focus. If you get in the high end versions you are often struck by how nice the interior is. If you get in the cheap version you seem to mostly notice the hard plastic and monochromatic interior. In both the Focus and Accord most of the interior parts are the same in all versions but there were enough expensive touches and soft panel inserts etc in the high end versions to really make the deluxe versions feel like a high end car while the low end versions felt stripped out.
Is the same true of the Mustang? When I look at this interior it does look pretty plane jane.

Not much to see there. I notice a grain on the dash that looks like it might be cheap looking in real life. I also notice large panel gaps between otherwise like colored interior parts.
But when I see one with a higher end interior I rather like them. Not certain I would want right red, I like the browns and maroons better but still this really seems to liven up the interior.

When looking at the Foci I was surprised how much more I liked the car with the leather wrapped steering wheel vs the based one which is that squishy plastic. The wheels are almost the same but the leather wrapped one really brought up the interior (with the rest of the upgrades). When I say the 2006 Accord had a nice interior I really mean the high end version, not the base version. When people say the same about the Mustang what don't they like? Is it the monochromatic nature of the low end car, the total design or something else. In base form I don't like it but I have seen higher end versions which I do like.
If you get the upgraded interior, it's going to be nicer than the base car. Like most cars the upgrade will get you nicer materials and a more sophisticated look. The basic layout isn't going to change. My experience with the new car is that it is comfortable and well thought out from an ergonomic standpoint. This is a Ford, not a Lincoln, so it really isn't reasonable to expect an interior that will compete with $60k cars. From what I've seen the interior, from a quality and construction perspective, it is very competitive in its price class. Individual taste will vary and that's fine, that's what competition is about.
mustangs are pussy magnets? are you f@#king serious? hahahaa
Neither car works as a replacement for the S since both are HARDTOPS.
Since we are talking CA or FL you'd have to be out of your mind to NOT have a ragtop (if you have secure parking). Im on the East coast of Florida (Melbourne Beach area) and the downside here is the typical road is heavily patrolled, straight and flat with a good chance of sand so even the S2000 was not the best choice for me. The cars handling is just wasted here and the only place to safely break 100MPH is going uphill on a causeway because everywhere else is the police trying to make some money.
So the situation becomes getting a car that you can enjoy the weather and go straight without worrying about getting arrested for going 2MPH over the speed limit. I looked at all the German converts and wound up with the Audi A5 Cab, but any number of BMWs or Benzs does the job of driving straight in the sunshine. Even a V6 Stang, IS250-300-350 convert, Miata makes more sense here than the EVO, 5.0 considering the high police presence and speed trap mentality our little beach towns have.
Having said that, I'd choose the Mustang over the EVO, the sounds of the Coyote V8 are awesome especially with a cat back system.

I have an Evo X. While its a great car for the street & the performance is phenomenal, this is the only car that I never got attached to. It's not fun to drive. A bit too electronic feeling. I can't wait to get rid of it.
