Hell the 2011 Mustang GT500 does 110 lbs. for less than $1000 increase

Haha.

If it was a package on the standard for $10K-$20K maybe but at 2X the price of a standard GT-R it's ridiculous.

I remember hearing that a brake job (at the dealer anyway) was $7500. Forget upgrades, that's some serious maintenance costs. But then again, I suppose if your buying a GT-R you're prepared for that kind of thing *shrug*

I'd love to own one.... if the car didn't drive itself
While it was once Nissan's official line to always replace rotors when your pads need replacing, they have since changed that to say it's ok to just replace pads as long as your rotor is still in good shape. The $7500 OEM/Dealer brake job issue has long since been solved by the aftermarket. There are numerous owners who track their GT-Rs and go through rotors/pads who have recommended many different pad/rotor combinations that cost just a fraction of that ridiculous Nissan number. While still not "cheap" it can be done for 2 - 3k or less for all 4 corners. The braking performance is also the same or better in most cases.

I plan on doing a down pipe/mid pipe and a cobb tune on my GT-R the minute my warranty is up next year.

Are you for real? If so, then you're completely ignorant of the topic at hand. You think the Spec V doubled in price for simply weighing ~130lbs less?

Short list of upgrades:

1) $50K upgrade in brakes.
2) More carbon fiber use.
3) Enhanced suspension system and upgrades
4) Many other aesthetic and functional upgrades
5) Collectibility jumps 10 folds.

Double the price for a 130-lb weightloss?

^ Platinum would not make the car's price doubled. If anything, it's made of iridium, uranium or something.

Edit: never mind! A search revealed that iridium actually costs less than platinum. Substitute that for rhodium. Or rather, make that Francium.

^ Now you're just being ridiculous because those don't exist. I'm just gonna go with Francium. The Spec V is doubled in price because of the 130-lb loss and the use of Fracium in the emblems.

I've been off the forum for a while and see that Steponme is still the current forum tool/troll. Sometimes change could be good.

Sorry, but I wouldn't touch a car w/ $50K+ in brakes w/ a 10 ft. pole.

I thought you put me on the ignore list? Missed me that much? I've been on this forum long enough to know you're a still an anti-Japanese, hatred-filled bigot from your back of the woods after all these years.

This is a Japanese auto (Honda) site and I'm a Japanese American who owns an S2000, both of which do not apply to you. If anything, I belong on here much more than you. It's just that sometimes, you anti-Japanese tools irk me. Yes, sometimes, change is good to kick those anti-Japanese bigots out. If you don't like it, hey, there're always the Mustang and Camaro forums.
