I know people that have had both. One dumped the Infinity because the rough ride could not be tolerated long term, one dumped the VW because of repeated problems and time in the shop. Maybe you should look at more choices.

I had an 04 VW Touareg V8. POS.
I hated it.
Lemoned it.
I did like the motor. So I got and S4.

VW has too many problems

FX has small "trunk" and rough ride (with sports pack)

how about the new MDX w/ SH-AWD?

the new X5 looks freakin badass... but might be out of your price range... I love the look of the FX and would get one myself if I wasn't much a car head than a SUV guy... The sound of the FX is badass too

Volkswagen has some of the nicest interiors in the "entry" and "near luxury" class. Their materials are very good and their layouts are pretty strong.

Perhaps you would care to share which vehicles in that class have better interiors?

More to the point, have you even SAT in a Touareg?

I personally think the FX is the best looking SUV ever designed, but thats just IMHO of course.
