This question gives me real problems, given the choices available to me today. And, as my S 2000 is almost six years old (though very low miles), I have given it some thought and investigation. I drove my neighbor's new Vette and (don flameproof suite) I didn't think it felt like a sports car. Sort of a crosss between a refined muscle car and a sports sedan. I don't like any BMW I've driven (daughter has a Z3 -- it feels like I'm driving a rubber band!) The 350Z makes me feel like I'm sitting in a bathtub, and it feels like a bathtub's suspension to me too. The Saturn/Sky twins are just a joke. Test drove a Mercedes SLK 55 AMG, which was another cross between a muscle car and a sports sedan and not a real sports car -- though a great drive nonetheless. Miata is underpowered as it always has been -- and apparently always will be. I've test driven some Porsches, and even though all the stats prove they are fast, they sure didn't feel like it.

Guess I'd better keep my S 2000 in good shape, until the automakers come out with something they sure don't have now!

Planning to keep my s2k for a while but thinking of picking up a used TSX for a daily driver. They drive and handle pretty well for a 4 door and very decent on mpg.

If you're gonna do it, you might as well do it right. Which is why I drive my S2000 exclusively under ALL circumstances. Life's too short to drive a family-oriented car.

I was thinking about this... the day the S is gone. I would either get a new or if discontinued, low mileage S2000. But I would also consider the Porsche Boxster S.

Whatever it is- it must be a RWD 2 seater.

The Lotus Elise was fun to drive. I test drove one about 3 weeks ago at my local dealership.

See, the problem is that you test drove it in the wrong environment. I rented an Exige for a 30 minute track session, and it most certainly is worth the $60K or so that it costs. If you can afford a $60K track car, that is.

Since I can't afford a $60K track car, I don't have an Exige.

I've driven my fair share of cars both before and after getting the S, but nothing seems to quite tickle my senses and give me unlimiting driving pleasure like the S2000 does. I'm very seriously considering picking up another S2000 a little later down the road, and possibly making it into a more track minded machine, whilst still being streetable. For under $80k, I really can't find anything I'd like over this. Scratch that, I don't think at any price I'm going to find something I'm going to like MORE than the S2000, but I'll definetely like to get a car with a different personality.

Right now I'm seriously considering the Audi R8. I've been following the development of this car for a while, and to me its the only "exotic" I'd want, since its A. Useable in DD and B. looks like a proper 21st century exotic, unlike the F430 for example, which looks like a warmed over 360 Modena of yesteryear. However, I'd like to wait for the T-top version of the R8 rumored to be due in 2009.

Hopefully, Honda will put an end to this plan, by releasing a next gen S2000, which will give me many more years of driving pleasure

When they become available in Australia, I'll be looking at the Ariel Atom2 (I'd love the 300hp version, but the NA one would keep me very happy) , and something cheap for a DD, maybe an Accord Euro or something similar.
