Did you guys see where this engine, as a crate motor, is available for about $7K (add $1.5K for ECU and everything)? Sounds like a cost effective motor for what it is. Makes me want to drop it into a Factory Five...

I actually fully agree with you. I think all that crap is tacky on a 911 and it's tacky on the Mustang as well. I like the mechanical mods but I'm not that fond of the styling add ons. I think the wheels are the most egregious part. Then again I'm predisposed to not liking any tack on crap.

I know at least one of the small Euro sports car makers was using Ford motors. It seems that Ford now has a motor that's truely competitive with many of the great cross plane Euro V8s (power, presumably weight and volume). I wonder if some make will chose this motor over say a Mercedes V8.

The new Noble M600 has a Volvo engine. The previous Nobles (M12, M400) used Ford V6 engines. Paganis have so far been powered exclusively by Mercedes. I don't think that's going to change anytime soon.

Koenigsegg used to use Ford V8s in their early cars. They've since re-engineered the motor in house but its based on the Ford architecture. Its now a 4.7L V8 cast in the UK and assembled in Sweden. It is stronger, lighter and more powerful than the old Ford sourced unit due to strengthening and build techniques.
