calipers (rear pistons size is different),
True, the rear piston is 3mm smaller which I assume is to balance the bias a little better (I ran actual C6Z51 calipers on my C5, even though most people suggest they're 99% the same).

Agreed 101%. If you want the benefits of the Z51, buy a Z51. If you're planning on radical mods, a base car is fine (since I would assume a BBK, motor work, etc.)

I asked the dealer, who the hell would spec a car with a stick, NPP, and competition gray wheels and not include Z51?
Keep in mind a huge % of people buy cars without regard to "track performance" - in many people's mind, Z51 = rougher ride. They'll gladly pay for a HP boost (like NPP), but handling is almost secondary. Hell, there are tons of Z06 owners that bought them because they're the "fastest" Corvette (the track capability isn't significant).

Thanks. Y'all have convinced me that this car isn't for me.

I, however, respectfully disagree that finding a Corvette the way I would want should be easy. It, actually, seems pretty hard. I want titanium or cashmere interior (must then be 2LT or 3LT), in orange, magnetic red, blue, black, or gray with Z51, NPP, base split-spoke wheels or competition gray split-spoke wheels, and, of course, 6-spd manual. I also want super low miles (that hasn't been an issue), and I want to pay under $40K. It's not like I am looking for an exact car, but I haven't found much that matches the above criteria.

I have the URL for the dealer search (you can filter on several criteria) - I'll find that and post it for you!

What will happen to the cars value once GM declares bankruptcy?

If they do go into bankruptcy, which I doubt will ever happen with the current prez and his union ties, they will restructure as a more efficient company with better ability to compete globally still manufacturing Corvettes.
The resale value will not change and if anything may go up if they are not produced anymore, gov would guarantee the warranty if GM halts business entirely. There are enough aftermarket Corvette suppliers that you could nearly build one from the ground up, replacement parts should not be a problem.
NO WORRIES.

Holy crap! That is a FAST car. I can deal with the ebony interior, but the car you linked is an auto. That may be a killer for me. That car would probably kill me too. Great buy, though.

If you are OK with ebony int, you should be able to find one with the equipment you want.
Have you browsed the corvette forum FS section?
You could probably find a new 09 C6 for ~45K unless 40K is the absolute cutoff. Not sure if you plan to finance but the 0% is free money, why not use theirs and keep yours if you were planning to pay cash?
