So a Boss Mustang is faster than a Cayman R around this track. What.

I'm most impressed w/ the Panamera S. Any car that can hustle around a track like that while coddling my family and having enough luggage space for a week-long cross country trip gets my vote...assuming I could afford it, of course.

New M3 is coming next year right? Why test the old one then?

For those of you complaining about what cars did not get tested, I would suggest reading the whole list of cars tested since 2006. Many of those cars that are conspicuously missing from this years test were already tested in prior years. The M3 coupe ran a best of 3:05.4 FYI.

GT-R was faster than it ran last time. Quite a few others seemed slower.

Waiting for an algorithm to be designed to take these standing bench results + others like 'ring times, Top Gear test track, etc, combined to assign official "production car track performance" rankings.

GTR is pretty impressive... wonder what it would do with another 100hp and 500lbs less weight to keep it within the same hp/lb ratio as the ZR1

The 302 LS wears tires that have something like a 40tw rating. Put it on even something like a sport cup tire, (still considered r-comp by most) and it would run a good second slower. On the same compound tire, I would expect it to be a very close battle, with the R winning by a very small margin. Still very impressive for the Mustang.

I would suggest reading the whole list of cars tested since 2006.
Well the problem with "since 2006" is that even if nothing else has changed, tire progression alone would be good for a second or two for most of these cars. Plus who knows what the weather was like. On a track that size, and many of the cars being FI 20 degrees could mean 2-3 seconds easily.

As with most TG style testing, it makes a good baseline, but don't take it to be absolute fact.

+1 regarding the Panamera, just amazing luxury performance. I sat in the back of one, and while that long roof line looks a little ungainly in profile, it makes the rear seats incredibly roomy and open.

There's a S model (non-turbo) around here, with some aero (looks factory) and it's pretty stunning, really has a ton of "street presence".

Also surprised by the TT-RS (and a little disappointed by the 1M...)

SRT8 faster than the Mini, and 7 seconds faster than the Si Civic! lmao
