Continuation of Socrates NSX thread
Wow, what an entertaining thread! I have to come back more often.
Bottom line: To each their own. You can slice things so many different ways that it becomes difficult to debate. I have watched NSX's demolish Z06's on a road course, and I have seen it the other way around. Can you say "Driver?"
I will be the first to agree that the current sticker price of an NSX does not seem to be any kind of value. In fact, I wouldn't consider buying a new one myslef. On the other hand, an early model year NSX can be had for high 20's, and with mods that would equal the cost of a new Z06, the NSX will abuse it like a rented mule. But, then we can always get into the mod / not-modded discussion.
To each their own. Personally, the driving experience of the NSX is awe inspiring. Is it for everyone? Surely not. That said, if you haven't driven one, you aren't entirely qualified to dismiss it from what might be your list of interesting, or like to have cars.
Steve has some interesting points, some factual, and some not. Certainly he's an enthusiest, and he's also opinionated. From my read of this thread, it appears as if some of the negative issues about the NSX seem to register with him, while the positives seem to pass in one ear and out the other. That said, I'm sure I would enjoy time spent with him. Maybe he'd even call me out for a race event.
A few tidbits:
I don't know the Z06's time around the ring, but I do know an NSX time around the ring: 1:14.6 (Hockenheim short course). For comparison, the 996 GT2 did 1:12.6.
10 sec 1/4 in an NSX are possible, but it takes in excess of 500rwhp. It becomes a traction issue, pure and simple.

NSXdriver I see a yellow and sometimes a blue NSX on my commute home while in St Louis along Olive Blvd. Both beautiful cars -- I am particularly fond of the blue.
If you'd like we can meet up sometime and you are welcome to play with my turbo. I will be sure to point out every defeciency it has too -- it's only fair.

And you can come out and play with my turbo.
Do you attend any of the HPDE's locally?
Can you say "Driver?"
, tell that to Socrates and see what kind of response you get.

To each their own.
But I do reserve the right to poke fun at those who are in denial, who chose to make pledge to one single car/car maker and refuses to acknowledge the greatness of other cars. Life is just too damn short for that.
