I'm 27 and I love having the power to fend off 99% of any cars I run into on the street and on the track. The NSX was an absolutely incredible machine in it's day, but those days are long gone.

I would have a hard time justifying getting schooled by a $22k Camaro in my $80k NSX at a stoplight, even though I have the 'better' car. I think that is all Kumar is saying. His car was/is making well over 460rwhp. I don't know too many NSX's that can claim that much power, especially for less than $60k.

Also, i would imagine a 460+rwhp Z06 would be a bit more fun to drive than an NSX, but that's just a hunch.

- I would take a new NSX anyday

- people saying you can get a 'faster' car spending less and would feel stupid at a light losing to a car that costs 1/4th of an nsx, thats fine...
- why not just buy a civic, swap the motor go turbo or nitrous and run 11's/10's? there is your answer for a cheap fast car

Personally I'd also take a Z06 over an NSX regardless of price. I drove an NSX, and while it was nice it just didn't do it for me. In terms of steering feel, torque, power, brakes, and sound there was nothing about it that was all that special. The interior really looks like it was designed in the late 80's/early '90s because it was. I think a plain 911 would offer more visceral and tactile excitement than the NSX. But I can totally see why some people love it- it's a very nifty piece of engineering and it's clearly still a dream car for some.

I really don't see the comparison between the S2k vs. SRT crowd vs. the NSX vs. Z06 crowd. Yes the SRT is a special car which does what it does very well. But even if one with a chip and suspension would beat a stock S2k on a road course (I'm not sure it would), that's not a very good comparison. You certainly don't need a chip or suspension on a Z06 to whoop an NSX around a road course. The Z06 is an amazing performance car, period. It goes, stops, and turns like nothing close to it in price. Yes there are tradeoffs, but that is the case with any performance car including our beloved S2000. There are plenty of S2000 owners here who, having driven them and/or seen them perform at the track have a lot of respect for them and would be glad to own one. I think the Z06 is going to be remembered as one of the most significant performance cars of this decade.

Sheesh...you guys keep saying that the NSX is $80K....What happened to the earlier ones? I bought my '91 for mid $20K with high miles...I've owned 3 Hondas, and this one has the most miles and yet the most reliable.

The NSX IS MORE RELIABLE THAN THE ACCORD....face it. They designed it to be that way.

I was looking at C5s before settling on an NSX. I'm 27, and don't street race and never really did. Sorry, but I don't need an ego boost or anything.

I don't care if its slower than everything else out there. What I wanted was a mid engine car, with extreme (came from an Rx-7) reliability, cool looking (ex car designer) and etc.....basicaly as others have summed it up, balance.

I'm constantly getting punked by C5s, but you know what? I don't care...I'm not here to prove how small my dick is. Picture this from my point of view:

I'm sitting at a light...two gay looking armenian guys pull up next to me in two C5s on either side(they had that "remember the genocide" signs plastered all over their C5s along with a large flag strapped to the back).

At every light they took off extremely fast....I started laughing to myself thinking..."so ing what? you want a reward?" I just wanna go home and get something to eat....people have too much pride and too much to prove these days.

Simple matter is, get what you want and be happy with it. I could gotten a Porsche, C5, kept the S2000, Rx-7, Supra, but I didn't. Why? Becaue I liked the NSX.....jesus christ some people...

I've extensively driven both cars, and it is safe to say they both have their strengths and weaknesses.

That being said, I'd choose the Z06. It is one seriously FAST car. I'd want to eliminate that damn 1-4 shift mechanism though.

But damn, having the engine right behind your head, and just flooring it in 2nd gear in that NSX, is almost orgasmic.

If (for some weird reason), the car had to be a daily driver, then I'd choose the NSX. The Z06 really wasn't comparable to the NSX in many aspects of build quality (a fair bit more cheap plastic in the Z06).

It's just a conflicting battle really. I wouldn't even buy a Z06 if I didn't drive it every day, yet because of the sour taste it left in my mouth in regards to build quality, I wouldn't want to drive it every day out of fear of trips to the dealer for service.

So even though I prefer the Z06 performance-wise, the NSX would suit me better, for my needs.

Did they use magical anti-breaking fairy dust?

One thing to note with regards to the Z vs NSX comparison is that the Z06 does not suffer from the same amount of understeer.

what exactly are you fending off? are they going to bite you if they catch you? I just don't understand this need to street race, but maybe i'm in the minority.
