Something seems fishy about this car.

Looks clean but I definitely wouldn't fork out 11k for it.

So what do you guys think? No/Yes?
I want to pull the trigger but theres something holding me back. With the S2000, it was a no-brainer and bought it with the quickness! However in this case, something is holding me back or maybe it just that the seller spoke with a Russian accent thats got me scared!

I am not 100% sure but I thought all USDM ITR came with 5 lug. I thought the early JDM cars came in 4 lug (4x120?), so if he says he 'converted' that's a possible red flag. I would ask on honda-tech.com ITR subforum. If it's a real Type R chances are someone there will know about it. They also have a FS thread specifically for ITR so you can compare prices. And isn't the original 97 CW a collector's car?

If it is real with low miles I think that asking price is about the market value price, and $11K is on the low side. I was pricing them a while ago and couldn't believe some of them were going for more than 15K. Looks like prices have come down a bit, perhaps demand is not as high anymore.

I agree with the 'something fishy' part. I would spend a little $$ and have a mechanic check the chassis to make sure it's straight and maybe even have a shop that knows ITRs check the car over to make sure it's legit.

OP if theres something holding you back then dont do it. Your conscious is there for a reason, listen to it. A lot of stuff seems impractical on this car, especially the price.

Craigslist is usually a fail to begin with...

The RS frame is in no way identical to the ITR.

It has a thicker B-pillar, different (thinner) front glass, thicker metal in other places, various chassis stiffeners not to mention the additional spot welding all over the place.

The car really is fun to drive, despite the huge steering wheel, the need to reach forward to change the radio station and the wrong pair of wheels propelling you.
Stevie:

Ok yeah I agree there are differences, but no changes cosmetically. You'd really have to have the car either on a lift and/or start tearing off the body and interior panels to see the difference.

Do you really think you'd be able to spot a "thicker" B pillar without having another Integra sitting right next to this thing?

I agree this sound WAY too fishy, and I don't think its work the 11k risk IMO.

I won't call you crazy, just uninformed.

That was a joke. No way in hell a stock ITR would beat a stock SS on any track, anywhere.

No way. I was simply pointing out that while you can build a similar looking car you can't recreate the ITR. Still a used CRX with a cage and the B18C5 is going to be the quicker car anyway.

Just look at the VIN number, it will say DC4 instead of DC2. If the motor is imported, it will say B18C instead of B18C5 on the block. I'm sure there are plenty of other simple tests.
