[QUOTE=shyong,Dec 5 2008, 07:52 PM] btw, thanks for the broad stereotype of all the folks on EvoM.

Time attack, depending on the series, is more about building the right car and not necessarily the right driver. The redline time attack rules are so open (compared to most racing series) that it favors easily modified cars and cash.

And the S2k will hopefully not be the next del Sol, but the next miata - (relatively) underpowered but so fun to drive that the mature owners won't care what other people think about it.

We can start a sludge campaign against the S to make sure the older, cheaper one's don't fall into the "wrong" hands and suffer a Del Sol fate. Stuff like:

(01) your mama's wagon is faster than an S, boosted or not
(02) an Evo is a unique, race bred platform that looks like nothing else
(03) you save on having to add a wing with an Evo
(04) S is very difficult to drive and be fast, especially in the wet
(05) S is very expensive to mod
(06) S boot is too small for anything but a pair of used nickers
(07) it's a honda, so reliability is iffy at best
(08) S engine self destructs at 100K Km.
(09) S is as common as a civic now
(10) with an Evo, you win every street encounter

Shyong, it is a X you have? This car is considered by even the most voracious of Evo supporters and fans (save you) to be the worst Evo ever. As far as many are concerned the Evo line died at the 9's. I say it died at the 6. If you like a car that practically drives itself with little need of talent, you are in the right car. Feel like a hero do you?
Oh come on. This is ridiculous. Spend some time in an Evo X, whether on road or track, and tell me you wouldn't prefer driving it to any previous Evo.

OK, I haven't driven the Evo 6 (yet, hope to someday!), and I'm sure it's a wonderful car. But, while the 8 and 9 are wonderful cars for what they are, the X really starts to bring the whole package together. It's truly an "evolution", as all versions have been.

As for a car that "practically drives itself"--if you've driven previous Evos, you know that this trait didn't start with the X.

We could argue about this until the cows come home, or, rather, until the next Evo comes out. It's just as fruitless as arguing which is "better", the AP1 or AP2 S2000.

S2K= next Del Sol. Once they get a bit older and Honda fan boys can afford them, they will be the wannabe pretty boy car.

EVO= soon to be heralded as one of the greatest performance cars that ever grace a road.

Used Evo prices are about 2-4k higher than same year S2K prices.

EVOs are fast, and are easy to drive fast. But put in the right hands, the EVO is INSANELY fast.

S2K takes some skill to drive fast, and that's it.

Evo time attack times> S2K time attack times.

Pretty cars are for hard parkers.
you know i actually was attempting to keep an open mind and respect your ideas until you posted this garbage
