Default G35 vs. S2000

I use to have an S2000 and due to inexperience i totaled it. I have been keeping to SUV while I gain my experience. I will soon be heading off to college where i will be driving a 30-35 min. commute daily. I am looking into getting another sports car/coupe and although I LOVE the S2000, I just dont htink I can handle it yet. Please tell me all the reasons the G35 would be better for me. Thanks in advance and I know this has been addressed, however, my situation hasnt.

But would it still be fun for a not so experienced driver?

It will be much better for an inexperienced driver than an S2000. All the traction control, etc. will keep you on the road.

To be perfectly honest, if you want to teach yourself some good driving, buy an RSX Type S - safe, fun, easy to drive, yet capable of teaching you how to handle properly.

The G35 was too boring - I love the car, but the fire would burn out quickly compared to the S2000 or the Evo.

If you're going to be driving at the limit on the street, almost any car can bite you. But the S, does it much quicker.

I suggest you go to a track day or autocross to learn more about how to drive a car. Besides that, I don't think it really matters what car you have if you plan on becoming a better driver.

I'm not sure I'd want to drive a 3400 lb luxury car around the track.

G35 is a good choice. Its got the advantage of practicality. Its rear wheel drive, nicely quick, handles well with good grip. It won't have the razor edge focus that the S2000 does, but it sounds like you want to dial that back a notch or two anyway. I say do it and never look back.

well initially i thought i would start going to the track and this that and the other but reality has set in and I am going to be in college AND working. There wont be any track time with that lifestyle (im going year round, i think). So basically, i want something i can drive comfortably, a 35 min drive. I want it to be sporty, reasonably safe and have slight luxuries. I LOVE the s2000 but i just dont know how practical it would be. I plan on keeping my cherokee but the gas on the commute would murder me. But if I got an S2000 I have to worry about things like is it going to start pouring and mess like that. I know some people swear it is fine in the rain but my ass end was side to side at 35mph on the interstate during a downpour one time (S02 with about 50-60%). Those are the things that push me away from the S. I love it, and will have one again, but I think I need more time, experience, and money. I just like for someone to encourage me and tell me Im going in the right direction. To be honest i have a good amount of time to keep thinking about it bc i dont plan to buy until around feb. anyway, thanks for comments and listening to me ramble on.

Why not get a used Prelude, spend less money so you'll have to work less... and use the time to study more so that 15 years from now you can buy the Skyline...
