It's not bad and at least there's some focus within Honda on this market. Overall this is good news and I actually don't mind the look and I hate the backend of the Civic Type R

Don't know how a 1 liter engine can move a car meeting US safety specs.
Basically I think its very difficult to build a car lighter than the S2000 ( 2850Lbs) without very,very expensive composites/carbon fiber.
Of course Honda engineers are smarter than I am.

Not hard if there are no options and lack of sound deadening. Consumers do not want a rattle can style car. Elise and 4C are pretty light. Cayman is around that weight and is well appointed.

The Elise is not a currently being produced car for American roads. The 4c, with its carbon tub and all of its weight trimmings is heavier then the new Miata. The Euro version of the car is light, but the car porked up 200+ lbs just to make it overseas.
Rattle can style car? Have you driven the new Miata? Interior is comparable to an S2000.

But yes, any lightweight car is going to be glamorously un-luxurious. As if that needed saying....
