Out of all of the ways to commit insurance fraud, that has to be the easiest for investigators to discover.

Frankly I think it's a chickenshit move. If you really cannot afford the car payments, sell the car or try to renegotiate with your bank.

We just take ours to New Orleans and leave the keys in it.

Interesting views on insurance fraud. Good to see some people against it. However, wrecking your car at the track and then telling the insurance company you crashed on public roads is as fraudulent as setting fire to ones car. Which has happened MANY times on this site.

Yup.
And completely stolen S2000s tend to also be on the fraudulent side, kinda hard to defeat the transponder key (although doable, just ask ITR owners, lol).
There is a reason why S2000s have such high premiums relative to its competition, high theft/vandalism/break in rates.
Ever wonder what happened to all those riced out cars of the 90s? You know, the guy down the street who had that molded bodykit, z3 vents, fiberglass conversions galore, etc etc. Somehow, those cars always end up stolen/trashed/burnt to the ground.

Doesn't necessarily mean they can't make the payments, sometimes they just can't unload the car when they want to, we've seen a rise on three row tahoes/expeditions/suburbans/etc.

Well, I asked my insurance co. about track days and they said I am still covered. They just don't cover mechanical failures such as engine and transmission.
