Default How will an Elise do in the snow compared to an S2k

Ok, I am getting another car soon because I am running out of miles on my '02 lease. I am trying to decide between an '04 S and a Lotus Elise. One of the big factors in my decision is that this will be my only car and I live in a hilly city that gets its fair share of snow. My question is, will the s2k and Elise differ in the snow if equipped with LM-22's? I was thinking that the Elise's engine placement would help to put more weight on the rear tires, but the entire car barely weighs anything. Any thoughts?

I always thought you need weight for traction.

the fact that the car is so light ~700kg (1540lbs) will make it worse in the snow. the reason is because it will tend to drive over and on top of the snow, separating you from the pavement where you get most of the traction.

one way to lessen this problem, though, is to get narrower width tires.

Honestly, I would rather walk to work than drive an SUV.

You could get studded tires. I was out at Lake Tahoe in Feb, and nobody had any trouble climbing Mt. Rose no matter what kind of vehicle they drove, as long as they had studs/chains.
