Torque isn't a bad word. You can say it.
Same thing. It is much harder to accelerate at 30mph than it is to accelerate at 10mph.

Everyone else seems to be on the same page except for you. Since torque and HP are related you're always going to be able to turn an equation with HP into one with torque. But to do that you're separating torque and rpm. Values for torque at the engine are meaning less without rpms.
Zoran said that wheel torque is much more related to HP than torque and you said not if gearing is static. Not true, try to tell me how much torque the engine is producing if you are producing say 5000lb-ft at 500 wheel rpms. Whether the gearing is static or not I can tell you the HP at the engine. You can't calculate torque at the engine without knowing the exact gearing. Point is you can't seperate torque and rpm when you have a transmission. The only time torque values at the engine are meaningful by themselves are if the wheels are directly connected to the crankshaft.
