Seriously, Chris S I don't know what your deal is or why you have such a chip on your shoulder, but if these kind of threads bother you so much just STFU and don't respond to them. Between you and y2ks2k it's like being in middle school again around here.

I would buy an IS350 and a Hond Pilot.
I'd buy a 335 and a used GX470... if we were talking about buying two cars.
For all we know, the OP already has multiple other cars at home. He may already have an SUV.
Not quite sure if the original post meant:
If you could only own one car and had $85k to spend, what would you buy?
Or:
If you were going to buy ANOTHER single car, and had $85k, what would you buy?

Sorry dude, didn't mean to get anyone so upset! Just a bunch of casual bantering about cars, maybe my sarcasm doesn't come through so well on the net. I enjoy chatting about cars too, and will try to tame it down.

What would you buy? The most obvious choice to me is an M5... but there's just something about spending that kind of money and looking roughly the same as every other bimmer on the road (and there are a ton of them!).
Oh and in case you're wondering why it has to be new...my wife has an unnatual fear of buying used...

BINGO, best answer yet!
Possible reasons:
1) they're in dream land
2) gonna leverage themselves to the hilt
3) didn't acquire the funds by working for them
4) attention whoring
5) ???

Was raining today. Was driving pretty much WOT. Traction control didn't even blink at me. I would have been sliding around in the S2000.
I'd like to see an M5 in the rain....
Quattro + rain/snow FTW!
Actually, with the M5 does quite well in the rain and with dedicated winter tires, it does quite fine as well. With stock, well, I actually got stuck when the car halfway out of the garage

It seems like this really come down between RS4/M5.
The RS4 and the M3 seem more natural competitors, and maybe the M5 and the RS5 when it hits the showroom floors.
Then again, maybe that is the takeaway...the RS4 actually does compare to the M5 but costs $15k less.

Why does everyone assume AWD is better than RWD?
I live in Montreal where our winters are 1000 times as bad as you guys and enjoy my S2000 a lot more in winter than I did with my old WRX.
Of course the S2000 had snow tires on but I don't see why an M5 would be impossible to handle in the snow with excellent snow tires?
