My wife bought an 07 and ruined it with an auto but for an econobox its a very nice little car. The interior materials surprised me when she brought it home.

I still have the 05 mazda 3 that got me through college

I find that, as long as you look at the car for what it is, you can't do worse!!!

I have 70+ k on it, and I've had very few minor issues, one major (replaced transmission under warranty)

really, it's a great econobox daily with a little pep (i have the manual and that helps a little)

my point being, it's not a sports car, it is a great daily/college car. got 30+ mpg fully loaded going cross country

If by stone reliable daily you mean 3 clutches, 2 differentials, 2 cv boots, and countless other rattles, sure, the S is definitely an "upgrade"...
Man what do you do to your cars? I've never heard of anyone having that much trouble with an S.

I've had mine 7 years and the only rattle I've got is when someone isn't in the passenger seat so I fasten the passenger seat belt and the top fastener on the passenger side in the winter.

But a wrench and 5 minutes would take care of that one. I just never have spent the time to do it.

every car... EVERY make will have a lemon or three. Once experience does not constitute reliability as a whole... at least not relative to other cars and manufacturers

FYI, a stock Mazda 3 does a 2:16 and a MS3 does a 2:09 at Buttonwillow 13CW...

and the car is only 3 years old and has what, 30k miles? Porsche quality! the Boxster and Cayman are produced on a budget, and it shows

you will regret leaving the S behind for an "upgrade" (thanks to the "Cockster" hype here, haha), you simply can't beat the S2000 as a stone reliable daily commuter
Rx-7 aint any better. I had one and it was a nightmare...even after all the reliability mods.
