Default MR-S To Get Celica GT-S Engine

I don't know many good Mr2 forums, but at the miata forums, this was a hot topic. In Japan, the MR-S will be getting the 190hp Celica GT-S engine, as well as LSD. I think over there they have 6sp manuals for it as well. I don't know much, but I would like to know more about this. Also, I thought the MR2 will be leaving US at the end of this year. Seems to me if they put this in the 2004 model, this would be quite a good platform of a car.

I wonder if toyota is smart enough to build the MR2 as it should have been (this coming from a 1990 Mr-2 TURBO owner)

won't happen.. the bean counters say NAY!

If they want to make it more like a MkII, the very first challenge is going to be finding a place to stow 6 or 700 pounds of lead in the car.

He's saying the MkII is massively overweight.

a 180hp 2200lb MRS would be pretty decent!

This is a popular engine swap in Japan, and I wonder why they jus didn't pop it in from the factory?

Sort of It's not overweight for what it was, but the MkIII is a different car plain and simple. Some people prefer fast well planted cruisers, and some people prefer a go kart

I see all these B series swaps... how come modders didn't just take the existing GT-S engine and put it in the MR-S now?
