I dono.. this is an interesting thread. Overall, the AWD car is easier to drive.. it also depends on the situation.

When I autox'ed the STi, it would handle the power out of the corners beautifully until the front tires started to fade towards the end of the run... However, sometimes the car will really make a nice attempt to quicker your reflexes when you turn on the boost after the apex of a sharp corner. When the turbo suddenly spools, sometimes you have to be quick on the reflexes to avoid the upcoming oversteer cause it comes QUICK!

On the other hand, my experience with my S2k is that the oversteer comes in a more predictable manner. So although it will oversteer way more often, I find it much easier to get a grip on compared to my STi...

Chassis wise, I have no complaints about the STi.. just wish that it had wider fenders and a quicker ratio on the steering. With that, it could get to be quite on par with the EVO... I've seen EVOs with 275 and even 285... the most that you can go (at least on a 04 STi) is about 255... after that, there are fender issues. There's a guy with 275s but the tires clearly stick out too far.

That, I really don't believe.
Care to explain? From what I see and feel on the autocrosses, whilst riding with other drivers, even on heavily modded STI's, they tend to understeer a lot, unless you have some crazy camber like -3. Even so, they still seem to understeer. My having an evo, its stance allows it to avoid such feature. -2 camber and you've almost no understeer anymore. Keep in mind, this is coming purely from what I've experienced.

i was seriously looking at an evo locally about 1 month ago, it was a 2003 with about 50 miles, sticker was around 30K and without any major negotiations the sales manager offered 25.5, i figured if you got serious you might get it for 25 flat or even high 24s.
CAn you tell me what options the car came with? I'm pricing right now and have no idea how far down I can talk a saleman.

thanks.

You're getting an Evo? Trading in the S2000?

The only reason I understeered my STi is because I went too hot into an off-camber corner...

Turn the DCCD all the way back, and floor it at the apex... the throttle will do most of the steering for you.

The car oversteers when you abuse it. Its all in the driving style.

I understeered at first but had someone that races the car give me some pointers, changed the driving style and my times went down.

I have to agree with Steve C on this one...the EVO is superior in acceleration and modability. Other than that it is not on par with the S2000. Mitsubishi build quality is certainly not on par with what Honda has done with the S2000 and many (myself included) think the EVO is just plain ugly. That wing on the back is just ridiculous what is it's purpose? It certainly can't be very functional in STOCK form as my M3 eats up EVO's especially at high speeds and I don't have a wing like that and my car is rock solid at 160mph.

S2000 owners don't realize they can change their alignment to different (UK) specs and change the handling of the S2000, I'd say, for the better.

As for the braking argument, the Evo comes with Brembos. The S2000 does fairly well for single piston brakes.
