I recently went through this search. The prices are all over the place. I wanted enclosed which is about 50% more costly. Horseless Carriage was simply too expensive for my taste. While I ended up using Domestic Auto Transport I had one issue that really upset me. The Antique car was being shipped from the Dever area to roughly the Florida panhandle just a couple of minutes off of I-10. They had serious issues routing it. I needed it within a certain time frame and they told me it wouldn't be an issue. With almost no time left to spare they called and said they could get it to on time for an extra $100+. I was not happy but I paid it to get it here. The people were nice to deal with and I understood their problem to a point, but I certainly was not 100% happy with the deal.

i have shipped 10-15 cars over the years with almost all good results(i think one time a car above mine leaked some oil onto my car). I just go on one of those sites that farms it out to about 10 different places for quotes... pick the cheapest one and somehow they find the kmart near my house and i meet them there..

if i was transporting a $1M F40 things would be different but for the average $30k car, it seems like they are all pretty capable.

I used this site to do a little research for my last shipping (~3 years ago, the S2K from Chicago to St. Augustine [North Florida]):

I did the same thing last fall having a car shipped from Seattle to Michigan. I ended up with enclosed transport to my door for $800.

Check out uship.com - they saved me about 50% when I had a motorcycle shipped a few years ago.
