I always liked the profile view of the boxster, but that's about it.

Based on what, besides your prejudices? Considering that the current base Boxster is competitive with the S2000 in autocross, I expect the new one to be superior. The S2000 may still be a bit faster at the track due to its (presumably) lighter weight.

Maybe competitive at the track, but not in price or cost of maintenance. Heard Porsche was considering a four cylinder entry level model, let's see if they can make a car for $32k that works as well all the way around as an S2000 (i.e. not a strippo Elise). With the current exchange rate I doubt it. Think that's why some Honda dealers can still charge over MSRP in some places but BMWs come with lots of trunk money and Porsche has drastically cut Boxster production.

Of course the Porsche will cost more.
How will the Porsche cost more for maintenance?
Where is any evidence of a 4 cylinder model?
Where are S2000's selling for more than MSRP?
Where is evidence of this drastic boxster production cut?
