New Mitsu Ecilipse
#44
I saw this car in person at a local dealer. It actually is a pretty neat looking car. Unfortunately, for me, that's where my intrest ends. I was talking to one of the sales guys and he said the GT with some gay-ass options (rockford fosgate etc.) would cost around $28K. If I'm at a Mitsubishi dealer and I see a a 3500 lb FWD V6 sitting next to a AWD Turbo 4 Evo for a a couple grand more, the decision is easy. I don't know what market this eclipse is supposed to be going for. For $28K that's eating into Evo territory. I don't think it can compete in the Evo, Sti, S2K, RX-8, 350Z market. And it costs a little much and doesn't offer enough sport to compete with the RSX-S, Mustang GT, WRX, SRT-4 market. And speaking of which, what does mitsubishi offer in this entry level sports car market now? The Lancer Ralliart? F that POS.

As an aside, my wife, who is not a car person, was watching a little TV last night and out of the blue asks me "Have you seen the new Eclipse?"
I was somewhat taken aback considering the fact that she complains that I talk about cars too much. But, after regaining my composure, I answer, "Yes." And she responds, "I just saw a commercial for it before you came in, and it's UGLY."
I couldn't help but laugh and agree. I feel a car has to be unnaturally bad looking for my wife to START a conversation on the topic.
