I would not go that far. I had one years ago, a 93 SE. Fantastic car despite the horrible motor. Lot's of little rattles and trim issues.

I had a 1997 240sx. I bought it to take me to point A to point B. It was a great car....low maintenance, super reliable and gas saver. Until one day, when my cousin visited from Cali, he introduce me to the JDM/difting world and hooking up import. I started modding the crap out of it. Most parts I used came from japn. I used to win car shows for best nissan. I spent so much money and went broke. I had to sell the car. So to answer your question, it is not a good daily beater if you can't control your urge to hook it up especially a 97-98 since they are more rare than other 240sx and also the best looking.

I had a 1984 s12 gazzlle before I got rid of it It was my REAL beater. It was a VERY VERY VERY fun car to drive. I had a friend with a 240 that was just as fun to drive. Go for it. Good luck.
