NISSAN to kill TITAN?
#2
Wouldn't surprise me. The pickup market is saturated and competition was already fierce amongst the Big 3. Add Toyota into the full-size mix and really Nissan is just a latecomer, bit player in this market. Combine that with the rising cost of gas and its a no-brainer to kill the Titan imo.
Save the money to build more GT-Rs would be my advice

It would be a bold move. Honda has no plans to kill the ridgeline according what I've read. A diesel is on the way.

publicity stunt? maybe they will re-release it later under a new model name at some point in the future to create a buzz and attract more new buyers in light of Honda's Ridgeline. I dont see the Titan going anywhere though (leaving I mean).

It would be interesting if they did cancel it. I didn't realize it was doing so poorly, aparently. I see Titans all the time, so I guess I don't get it. That article says Toyota's new Tundra ain't doing so hot either, so I don't know that They're throwing sand in Nissan's face. At the very least Nissan seems to be a company more willing and able to change direction than Toyota. If Ghosn doesn't see it panning out, then I defer to his wisdom.
I certainly don't think the Titan has been anything nearly as successful as even Dodge's trucks (the lowest truck seller of the Big 3), but overall for a company that never played the game before 2004, they made a great first effort with a great engine and list of capabilities.

here's another related clip: http://www.autoblog.com/2007/12/16/ghosn-h...titan/#comments
Toyota might not be as strong as the domestics, but they're still pushing out close to 200,000 Tundras to customers this year vs. ~65,000 Titans.
