so strange how many people write that they sold their s2k for something they thought was better and regretted it. and people don't seem to learn from other people's mistakes.

if you need the extra space to carry people or costco toilet paper, then it makes sense.

Why are people calling the new STi a "hatchback"? Looks like a compact wagon to me-- or a "sportswagon" if I was in need of additional marketing-speak to feel comfortable about it.

You should buy a Volvo. They have 50 airbags and stability control nanny and early impact warning alarms and are nice and safe.

I think the most accurate description is five door.

'08 STi is an amazing car, but kinda pricy depending on how much you want to spend. If you're looking at an STi, I would go for the '06. Most Suby experts agree that '06 is one of, if not the, best year for STi so far.

As far as handling goes, I would put my STi against my old S2K any day of the week. Just because it's a four door with a big wing and lacking that 50/50 weight distribution doesn't mean it can't handle. Granted mine has a fully upgraded suspension and a set of RE01-R's, but this thing is amazing on corners, it will not let go.

Besides, the reliability of the STi vs. the Evo is night and day.

I would go STi, torque and AWD are just so damned fun.

far as safety goes evo has only a 2 star side impact rating. and the only reason I am concerned is because it will be my DD, and accidents happen. Thats all guys...cmon I know some of you understand

The only thing the sti has on the s2ki performance wise is power. The rest is arguable, if not to the s2000's advantage.
I couldn't own an 08 sti. I'm sure they will be great cars though. I really have no idea what you expect from us, I've driven both cars, they are polar opposites in feel and power delivery. One's basically a sedan/wagon, awd, turbo, souped up economy car, the other is an open chassis, n/a, rwd, convertable.

I would get a 08 STi and keep the S2000 as a fun car.

few cars are as small yet as powerful as the S2000.

the MX-5 and Elise are smaller cars but less powerful and Z4, Boxster, Vettes etc. are heavier. The S2000 is a good blend of not too big not too small.
