Does the M4 have the pipped in engine sound like some other BMW models?

yeah. Its a "synthesized intake sound", lol. Porsche does the same thing only it isnt the intake noise, its the Exhaust.

Of course the gap is much smaller between the modded 335 and an M but It would bother me. Id rather just by the real thing.
The 981 and the 918 are very different One is the current boxster/cayman and the other is a hybrid supercar that goes from 0-60 in 2.2 seconds and does the quarter mile in 9.8!

Except that the BMW system plays through the cars speakers and the Porsche system is a physical tube...

Jag does it through a tube on the F-Type; at least it is the actual engine. Playing engine sound through the speakers is just wrong to me. Aston Martin salesperson used that one feature as distinguishing feature between a 7 Series and a Rapide buyer the other day. "Aston buyer does not want synthesized engine sound".

I can't tell you how many people I know who match their car's MSRP to their anual salary, plus or minus 10%. Frightening.
That's cool that you go through life upset at other people's fiscal choices.
That's cool that nearly everything you post on this site is met with ridicule and scorn. But yeah, what Jonboy said.

So I was trying to figure out if it was implemented the same in the M3 as the M5 and I think it is slightly different. In the M5 I think it is a pre-recorded track that matches to RPM but in the M3 I think it is actually amplified from the actual car? Hard to find definitive info but maybe that gives you some piece of mind that your car is not "faking" its noises... My car could be louder, it seemed loud at first, maybe I am going deaf, it might be the S2000 with the single exit titanium veilside exhaust... that's *&%$ing loud...

Can you lower or increase the sound? I can understand the theory or need behind it. Driver needs to hear the engine to interact with and engine bay is too insulated...
