Ferrari built 456 GT Sedans for the Sultan of Brunei. They also built a few WAGONS (estates) called the Ferrari 456 GT Venice.
Lamborghini built the LM002 which was a badass SUV.
If they can do it why not Porsche? People got mad at them years ago when they built the "cheap" 914's, and 924's too.

I cringe at the Panamera, but love the rest of their lineup. The Cayenne is an outstanding truck and has driving manners that are downright shocking for a vehicle of it's size.
The Cayman is a beautiful car that is a top-notch performer. The Boxster is the best roadster in the world (IMO). The 911 is, well, a 911. Nothing needs to be said there.
I think Porsche is right, right, right.

Uhm... yeah.
Also, it can be argued that the cayman chassis is better than the 911 if it wasn't handicapped from the factory, if for no other reason MR>RR. Perhaps porsche is trying to ween people off of the RR platform by allowing the newer generation porsche owners to fall in love with the MR platform. Porsche been trying to stray away from the RR for years but until recently could never get people off the RR layout and for good reason.
Anyway, sorry OP, I agree with your enthusiasm but otherwise completely wrong. Plus, kinda late reaction, this been going on for years now, lol.

Well then why dont you just buy everyone a 100g porsche then since you have so much money you can skoff at porsches.
I completely disagree with the OP... mostly.
I think the panamera is kind of absurd and overly stylized. it really looks they are trying to make a four door 911 rather than a unique car that has porsche styling cues.
i think it is the wrong direction for porsche as it just seems like kind of a "me too" approach.
as much as people do not like the idea of a porsche suv that is still a sport vehicle. different kind of sport but nevertheless a sport vehicle. they made a damn good one if you ask me.
as far as the entry level sports cars go, this isn't anything new. porsche has made entry level cars before and there is nothing wrong with that all. it doesn't cheapen the brand in my opinion.
if they were to come out with a competitor for the civic si or something like that, i could see some cause for alarm.
