r8
yup, the "slash" (they call it a "blade") comes in 3 color choices...
gotta get it in black so we can do a good swirl removal mikeyc!!
actually, i like the car in all of the color choices- and would be happy to have it in any of them!

I was hoping it looked nicer. The car just doesn't flow right IMHO. I guess I would pay a bit more and get the Gallardo instead.

-it's larger (more room and storage than the Gallardo) that is a plus for us 6-3 guys
-it's an Audi meaning there is a dealership in every major market
-it's more easy to be a DD or more-DD than a Gallardo
-it's price about $60K less than a Gallardo is real money, you can get a BMW 550i for the price difference.
FWIW the CS is one mid-engine car it may be looked at against. Porsche has a pre-configured CS for 'sport' or 'luxury' or 'design' and they are priced just under or just over $80K. So there is no way the R8 is going down market that far (unless they put a V6 in it). They are more closely priced against an AM V8 or 911S (etc..)

I think it looks great, but my beef with Audi is EVERY car they make is 300-500lbs too heavy.
Heck the NSX which has more than 120 fewer HP and TQ and will end up being smaller with less room (I bet) weighs 31xx (?) so my gosh, hard to expect the R8 to weigh any less than it does.
I wonder if people think cars like the F430 and AM V8 and 911 S etc.. are 300-500 too heavy or is it just the Audi R8 that should weigh 2900 lbs?
Yes I do prefer a light weight car, but this is not just a performance car that only matters about its weight (like an Elise for example). It's a Luxury-Performance car just like a AM V8 or 911S. Its weight is not far from the nore (at all IMO).

Can't say I agree with this. Yes I'd like it to weugh less, who wouldn't? But its just 33xx or 3400 lbs which is not much more than a F430 and for that matter around the same as a 911S and similar to a Viper.

The C6 Z06 barely tips the scales at 3000lbs. There a lot of automakers who could take a lesson from Chevy's Corvette team on weight saving.
This is one car you can point at, not counting a car like an Enzo or exotics. It weighs small for it's size, and it has many features and lots of power.
My point is from now on all cars should weigh 3000 lbs just b/c the Z06 does. Thats a nice theory, but it won't fly and also the Z06 is not taking every last sports car sale, they still sell F430, Gallardo, 911 turbo, AM V8, SL55, Viper, Ford GT and will sell many R8s.
I do have a problem with a car like the SL benz which are over 4000 lbs for a car no bigger than the Vette. I don't mind calling out the SL benz, thats not great. But heck the R8 if projected comes out at 3400 lbs (IMO) thats what I am expecting and don't mind it, it'll still weigh less than a M3 or Mustang GT (for example). So it's not 30xx like the Z06 very few cars are.
