^^ At least the motor isn't slung out in front of the front wheels for once!
No kidding. I can't believe how far forward they mount their engines. I'm sure it adds to the cost of repairs in fender benders.

The C6 Z06 barely tips the scales at 3000lbs.
- IIRC it weighs 3147lbs.

I'm not gonna bother editing my last post...lol, after staring at the pictures longer, I guess I can see where it gets it's price tag. I guess they just advertised and hyped it up wrong. It's not an exotic in the traditional sense. I was expecting a full on exotic sportscar. This is along the lines of a base 911, aston martin, mercedes sl, m6 range. It's very sleek and low slung. Looking at it from a "conservative" sportscar standpoint it's very nice. But I got my expectations too high and was expecting something out there like its lambo brother. Anyways, It's an audi, so it's a luxury sportscar. I just wished the price tag was a little lower, I can't justify spending that much for this car. I might as well save up for another few years til I can get the lambo or a ferrari.

Looks like a new TT on steroid. If it's going to be priced around $80k it's going to be worth every penny. I'd rather drive this than a 911S at that price range, but based on Audi pricing history I think it's going to be over $100k when it come out.

There a lot of automakers who could take a lesson from Chevy's Corvette team on weight saving.
Yeah because everyone wants cheaply glued fiberglass cars.

I'm not sure I'd appreciate it if the roof on my $100k car flew off because they wanted to save 1lb of rivets.

r8 looks to me like a refined muscle car... with a few lambo lines combined with an exotic's engine display!!

and modernized with the paddles and joystick shifting!!

one of the best pics that shows the lambo lines:

http://www.automobilemag.com/future_cars/2...0_2008_audi_r8/

(very "cab forward" with strong muscles in the rear)

btw, pretty sure that its is shorter than the 911 frame, but quite a bit wider...

stop trying to be cute. the z06 is a well made car that has a problem that has been overblown by internet posters.

I think the R8 looks great, but will be dwarfed in performance by the super cars from america for the same or less money. The Z06, Blue-Devil-SS-Whatchamacallit, Viper, and the new 08 viper will all over a lot more performance for the same or less money. But, that really isn't the point of the car. I really do hope they get rid of the cross drilled rotors. They just don't hold up well especially on a car this heavy with this much power. I hope they take a lesson from the SRT team and just put some big assed iron rotors clamped by some good calipers, Brembo, Stop-tech, etc.
Yeah but this isn't a sportscars sportscar. That's why I hated it at first. I expected it to be something it's not meant to be. Most of that I blame is on the press that was hyping it up. Because it's not an ultimate performer, and I don't think they intended it to be. But as an urban pussy mobile it does the trick. I'm guessing the ride is very refined and the ladies will enjoy it as much as the man driving it. Plain and simple, it's more of an Aston Martin/Mercedes SL-class/m6 competitor.

Exactly. And VW already proved they aren't interested in making a real super car for the masses when the canceled this:
