My 15 y/o s is exceptionally reliable. It has little to do with age. Longevity is determined more by treatment and maintenance than anything else.
I've been tracking and autocrossing mine for several years and

a) It's over 100k and starting to feel a bit worse for the wear to me, regardless of all of the maintenance/upkeep I do for it
b) I'm getting an itch for more power/tire
c) I'd prefer to stay in something NA, and I'm not much of a corvette guy.

Who cares if the S2000 has high mileage? It's still one of the most reliable sports cars ever made, and it's not that expensive to buy a new engine. It's almost worth buying one just to have around as a spare, especially if you plan to have fun modding & going with forced induction.
