Yes, that's because the STi/Evos look like rice rockets with their gaudy bumpers and huge wings. The S has widely-accepted and accepted style You can't argue the performance of the STi/Evo, but the fugly looks ruin the cars.
The gaudy bumper and the huge wing are part of the aerodynamics on the 2 vehicles and are functional. A true car enthusiast does not buy a car just based on looks and how many chicks it could get you, they also look @ other aspects such as performance, quality, and longevity. If i wanted a car just for looks in the same price range I would've gotten a g35, if I wanted a car with huge performance I would've picked up a new cobra. I'm sure any owner who has purchased an s2k/sti or evo made their decision based on their daily needs and what they would like to accomplish in the future.

s2k- will out run the sti in the canyons anyday; better gearbox and tranny; definitely put together alot better. (sti's interior and suspension develops noises over time); rpm's go forever; convertible and definitely a true roadster.
I don't think the S2K will just flat out "out run" the STi in the canyons/twisties/touge. A driver with no racing experience will be much faster in the STi simply because its easyer to drive and has the technology to keep you gripped. S2000 has the potential if you can take it to its limits.

I'm not sure about the EVO 9, but the STi and the EVO 8 were only doing low 13s and trapping around 103. I mean they're quicker than the S, but the power curve might make it feel faster than it actually is. My STi felt quicker than my Z06 when it was stock because the power delivery is so smooth on the 'Vette, but in reality the Z will run away from the Z.
the EVO IX is a diff animal.

Dynos higher then previous EVOS a nd even 06 STI which is rated at 300HP.....hitting a 12 stock is crazy....you can make crazy power so easy

i own both cars(well not really i have a wrx) and i must say the S will lay the smack down through the twisties on a STOCK wrx or an sti. the suspension on the sti and especially the wrx is not tight at all compared to the evo's. if you compare the S to a wrx or sti w/ a nice set of coilovers and a dialed in alignment job though, i think that the suby would be able to hang with the s2k easily.

If you want an S2K with the power of an STI there is only one car out there, the Mercedes Benz SLK55 AMG 355HP 376 pounds. 0-60 4.9 only the STI is quicker.
I call this car Beauty and the Beast!!! The EVO and the STI are awesome cars, but ugly.
On the other hand the S2K is pretty but it doesn
