a little known fact about the 9-2x that most don't know is that it is not identical to a WRX 2.0, the Saab uses the STI steering rack to give a much lower steering ratio and quicker handling characteristics.....a very nice feature. And yes parts work the same...

^^^ Speaks the truth.

And yes, insurance is cheaper with most carriers.

My wife and I purchased a 9-2X Linear this weekend to replace her aging Saturn coupe. The deals on this car are incredible. We didn't opt for the Aero (turbo) since my wife would never know the difference, and the added gas and maintenance cost wasn't justified. Base price on the Linear is like $24k, but there is a $5.5k rebate from GM and all dealers will sell for invoice or below. The aero has a total $7k rebate and starts at $28k. Our Linear has EVERY option (leather, HIDs, moonroof, fogs, 6CD, AT, etc), and the MSRP on it was $30k. We paid $23k after incentives and haggling.

I can't think of another 5-door on the market that can offer so many amenties for the money, AWD or not. The Mazda3 costs about the same when equally optioned, but it has a worse warranty and no AWD. If it was me going to drive the car, I would have opted for a stripped manual Aero for sub-$20k.

The car drives well, although the interior is a little cramped and plasticky. The exterior styling is far better than the Impreza. Overall, I think with the current pricing the 9-2X is a good buy.

I finally saw one 9-2x on the road. It was yesterday.

Can someone remind me when GM started selling them?

Well, my little brother picked one up this past Saturday and he loves it.
Beige'ish color with blk/light tan? leather seats. 92-x Aero (turbo) version.
I'm not sure about the Sunroof option, but he got the 5-spd that he wanted. He got it for out the door price of $9k off MSRP (which is more than $10k off MSRP with taxes, etc.)
