the car looks hot in the flesh, even with pontiac grill. pics don't do it justice.....except for jacked up stock suspension
GTO has sucked all the crap looks by itself..why doesn't the hood meet the front bumper flush?hideous!
I'm really not feeling the solstice... turbo or not. Its a pontiac, and I would never spend my money on it. I actually sat in one at the dealership, the seat, aside from being uncomfortably upright, couldn't slide back far enough for me to ever comfortably drive the car(I'm about 6'0"). Its ugly, esp when placed next to the s2000 (i know i know thats opinionative) and I just don't see how anyone would want to get rid of their s2k for one.
tell me please what you guys are smoking and where you get your shit!!!!
Point is, if this info holds true, this car will be awsome! a 2850 lb car with 260hp/260 tq roadster that looks nice and hanldes decenlty for 25K ish will be loads of fun!
The 2850 lb figure is for a base car w/o some of the most basic standard eqipments in modern cars. Add A/C, power window/lock, limited slip (a must-have), etc. and now it is closer to 2950 lb (not to mention higher cost). Base car loaded w/ options to somewhat close to S2000 standard level will be $25k in itself.
The GXP model - with turbo hardware, intercooler, beefed up drivetrain (unless base car's drivetrain is already over-engineered to handle added hp/tq), and (hopefully) larger brakes and thicker strut bars - will add another 150 - 200 lb to it, bringing its total weight to between 3100 - 3150 lb. With 260hp/tq, it will still be a very quick car w/o question - but just want to bring optimism closer to reality.
Unless GM sprinkles some Corvette suspension magic on it though, I continue to have my doubt about its handling.

The chassis was engineered by Lotus -- there's a link somewhere in the thread.
Anyone that compares a supra to a cavalier is an idiot in my book. how could you insult a supra like that. also the technologs in the supras hit the showroom floors in 1992, and earlier in the previous generation.
one more thing, with the boost they would have to run to get said 260HP, which I would imagine is in the 15PSI area, they will likely need a cast iron block.
If so, chalk up another 100 pounds. Also the power loss with the truck tranny and bid diff will be sizable. Even though it has 260 to the crank, it may only put out like 210 to the wheels.
On upgrading power, yea, it should be easy. Don't forget that the boost on the GXP will likely be high the turbo may be tapped out depending on how large a turbo they use. Take the neon SRT4 as an example...if you want more than 300HP, a turbo upgrade is usually required.
I do think the solstice is an atractive car and looks great. It is a major step in the right direction. While the interior is attractive, from an ergonomic perspective it is not...hard plastic makes it feel cheap.
