Default thinking about an RX7

I'm getting board and was thinking about getting a 93-95 RX7 fixing it up a little.
what do you guys think?I was looking in auto trader and saw alot of them for like 10k-15k.

P.S. I've always wanted one since they first came out.

Peace
David

You'll be fixing it up more than a little

Plan on spending about 6k on it the first year. 2-3k every year afterward. And keep 5k laying around for the next engine. But when it runs right it will be the most enjoyable car you have ever driven.

I love those cars to death... one of the best looking cars to ever come from Japan.

The only way I would do it though is to buy a cheap rolling chassis and start fresh. Streetport, 3mm Apex seals, single turbo, and some fairly conservative tuning... among other things.

The twin turbo vacuum hose rats nest can be a nightmare and cause you a lot of downtime searching for leaks... not to mention who knows what the engine has been through, despite what the previous owner tells you. Which is why I would start from scratch.
