The 06 doesn't look that bad to me.

Now if they will only bring the Type RA to the US.

WOW, I couldn't disagree with you more. The MR is wayy overpriced. Get light wheels (that you will want to change), softer suspension, and little look at me pieces and thats worth 5k+ to you??

Why not just get a Evo RS and buy the same suspension and wheels? That will give you pretty much the same thing sans the 6 speed.

Also, the STi is not exactly less harsh. Rags dont tell the full story.

Ill let you know this... STi's aren't for sale because of problems... In fact, they are MUCH MORE recommended/reliable than EVOs...

They all have their ups and downs... there are plenty of threads on this.

Look around though... Subaru is ranked very high on quality/reliability.
its basically the import version of camaro vs. mustang. each car is good. one does something better than the other. looks are a matter of opinion. for example, to me the STI looks like a rolling cartoon. dont get me wrong its a badass car and if i had the chance i would pick one up. its FAST, is safe and it AWD! oh and turbo! the evo is a beautiful car. its all what the sti is, fast and all that. who can pick one over the other. based on pure performance you cant bash one or the other. its all up to what your going to spend you 30+ k on.

i would buy an evo. but thats just me. and at the same time, if i could find a cheap sti, id pick it up too! two of the best cars built!!!

hahahaha, yeah, I suppose I wouldn't mind both.

In my case, I moved on from the boy racer looks and now have a Legacy... My STi just got to the point that it wasn't something I wanted to drive everyday.

But my Legacy is looking up. With a big brake kit and STi parts sitting in my garage waiting. Since it has the same block as the STi it will offer up the same performance but with some comfort to boot. It weights 2lbs more than a 05 STi, but has way more comfort. Unfortunately it doesn't have the same tranny so that is a bummer even though the STi is now 47/53 instead of 35/65 like it was in 04-05.

When you say "47/53 instead of 35/65" are you talking about weight distribution or power distribution?

My 996 turbo is the only AWD car I have driven that does not handle like one. Understeer is hard to get into unless you are really trying, and at all times your right foot can correct the issue -- i.e. you can get enough power to the rears to make them spin.
If I remember correctly, Porsches AWD system is biased 30%/70% F/R at its maximum (front drive) setting, which would explain (that and the hours put in by the engineers and test drivers tuning the system) why it didn't feel like an AWD car.

Power distribution by default.

hmm STi overweight? Well I have a sort of STi that weights 2640 lb(less then S), its a lot more fun than my S2k used to be......

After getting rid of the s2000, I didnt know what car to get, I test drove quite a lot of available sport cars or sport luxury car available now, but nothing got my attention, so I decided to swap usdm sti motor and drivetrain into little RS, and voila
