True, but I think it's a stretch to say everyone is gaga over VVT b/c of VTEC.

AP1's more so than AP2's, but even on AP2's you can still feel the increase in the rate of acceleration when the crossover hits (untuned).

The 'feel' isn't the important part. The important part is 2 liters and 240 reliable hp.

This is true because outside of honda circles it's nothing special. Mitsubishi, Nissan, and Toyota all had turbo 4 bangers (some with vvt) while honda had the vtec, so everyone else was too distracted with their turbos. What made hondas of yore quick wasn't the vtec system, it was there sub 2300lb bodies. The fact that you could swap in the more powerful engines from hondas lineup with relative ease is what made the vtec powerplants so desireable; I will speculate and say that had honda offered a turbo engine, I would imagine that many would've chosen that route instead, but this is pure speculation.
