The comptech s2k always shows well or wins competitions put on by magazines. but everyone wants to emulate the amuse/j's racing cars.

no doubt that they all perform well, and i understand that magazine tests are not perfect and sometimes highlight undeserving cars. but the image of the JDM racecars have been built up by their counterpart magazines and video magazines, too.

or is it just because it's harder to source out JDM parts?

that recent SPEED issue (with the s2000 shoutout) kinda highlights my point here too.

 

Ok, look through the Speed Magazine again, it doesn't show the Comptech vehicle in a comparison against the J's, Amuse, or any other JDM tuned S2000. They are built and tuned by guys in the US mostly with non-JDM parts.

J's and Amuse (until recently) tuned through NA while Comptech has always been FI.

 

i know, but the Mackin Industries car was built to highlight the Japanese products that they import.

i like JDM stuff as much as the next guy, and i don't doubt the quality of the parts that the guys from j's, amuse, and mugen put out, because they are top notch. i'm just wondering if the excellent functionality of the comptech car get overshadowed but the mystique of the JDM tuners.

and as far as i can tell, US tuners have an excellent reputation for building strong, fast, reliable and very driveable cars. tuners like lingenfelter, mallett, and comptech all have been praised in these aspects.

 

Because the comptech car is FI so it would just Smoke EM all. Wouldn't be a comparison. But the JDM thing to do is N/A so what can you do?

before you say irrelevant things, go buy an S first. i got two in the garage with SSR's, some spoon widgets, some cusco parts, buddyclub and skunk2 and comptech bits too. nuthin fancy or special but at least i can qualify to ask these questions.

the J's or amuse cars will destroy a comptech car on the circuit....it has already been proven

 

you should check out the best motoring american togue video, its available on comptechs site. not only do they have the comptech s2k but tsuchiya(sp) and his counterpart are very impressed by the car. besides that there is some great s2k footage in it. if im not mistaken, they compare it to the amuse s2k and they like it better.

Buying an S has nothing to do with your topic. Your logic is flawed my friend.

BTW, turbo pwr hit it right on the head. The comptech S never competed against any JDM S's.

 

Seems, then, like it'd be a good idea to take a J's or Amuse car and bolt on an extra 100hp.
