Default Xenon headlight problem

Hi,

I recently sold my S2000 and purchased a 2001 911.

I'm posting on this board b/c I've always received prompt and helpful response compared to other forums.

I noticed one of the Xenon headlights on the 911 didn't go on when I turn it on. Only after I turn on and off several times does it go on. It almost seem like one of the headlight is 'somewhat' blown out.

Has anyone experienced something similiar?.... Is it time to replace the bulb, change the Xenon controller or clean the connections?...... Any help/feedback would be appreciated.

Thank you.

It seems there is a loose connection from what you are describing. If the unit is burned out its just that, burned out. It will NOT work at all. Vibrations on the car will make the contacts touch causing the light to work then another vibration will work it loose. Hence working sometimes.

Check the connections first ensuring they are clean and touching.

Could also be the ballast. Most likely a faulty switch or loose connection.

Forgot to mention, do you have the build sheet for your 911? Lots of folks added the Litronics themselves. Some used non OEM parts, some used refurbished control modules -- I have read of a few folks have issues like yours when the control module went south.

Thanks for sharing the information..... The xenon was OEM as specified on the sticker...... hopefully I won't have to replace the controller.
