Default Auto insurance questions.

Hi,

I'm gonna lease a car for my parents. They live about 200 miles from me, different county, same state (CA). Is it possible for them to have insurance by themselves without me being on that policy, since I won't be driving that car, even though the car will be leased under my name? And the car will be kept at their address, which maybe another issue.
Thanks for your opinions,

If they're the drivers they need their own insurance. And it will be insured at their address since they have possession of the car. My daughter has possession of one of my cars and it's on her insurance, in her name, not mine. My name is on the title and registration. State laws govern this so your situation may be different.

In my experience, the leasing company will not even hand you the car without a policy in effect for YOU. Doesn't matter if the car is for your parents or anyone else. Also from a pure liability standpoint, if your name is out there as the owner/lessee of any car you damn well better have insurance on it. Because it's involved in an accident, you will be the first person thet gets sued.

We had one at our dealership in championship white and it sold within 5 days because we turned down quite a few offers up front for it. The owner of my dealership wanted to keep it for awhile just for display and media purposes but if a local buyer came around we would sell it to them at the right price. Everything about it looks good but you have to see it in person to really appreciate it. Park it next to an sti,rs,evo etc and you will see how much better it looks compared to its competitors. I'm not buying it but you can hate it all you want but its the fasted fwd car in production at the moment and proven to be more reliable than its competitors so its an easy sell to me. It sold for $44k !!!!!!
