sorry to hear that i have a 4x4 - as a toy to 'off road ' we do the ridgeway ( right of way ) most summers.. and every day you will get some toff walking there dog... ( who shits everywere and NEVER clears it up ) come up to you saying ' your spoiling the country side for the rest of us... ok tehre are some idiots that carve up tracks ... but we dont all do that... and there is very little impact from driving at 5mph along the right of way! we always jsut tell them to get stuffed and we are paying road tax to be there and if they wish to use the public footpaths rather than a right of way they wont come accross any traffic... but more dog poo... if i caught someone doing this to my disco id give them what they deserve....
I meet a few green laners on the ATB:
They always stop (actually it's usually easier for me to get out the way) and their floaty tyres (like a road roller) actually repair the damage done to the byways by the horsey zarses with their stupid metal feet.
yup there is that we always pull over for walkers and turn engines off for horses.... BUT as i say tehre is such a bad view of them.. there is maybe 1 in a 100 that dashes through TOG GEAR style is something large carving ruts and stuf but 9/10 times all the ruts are caused by TRACTORS going down these bits of track to get to the fields.. next time you see a large rut work out how on earth a landrover with 2 foot of ground clearance made those tracks... we are a good bunch and most of us repair and prune the lanes when we use them - not just leave dog shit and hourse shit behind to step in... if you see me next weekend ( ridgeway opens on the 1st ) wave - this is my landrover
