Anyone had or moved to a 350z?
Just wondering how people feel they compare to an S? As I may have the chance to swap mine for one soon.
I've been out in a few (never driven one) and they always feel pretty heavy and don't feel as fast or exciting as driving an S. More of a GT cruiser than a B road hooner. But I love the looks/sound and could probably extract a few more ponies etc. Love the S though so kinda torn on which way to go

RichUK had one, Ciderboy has one I think.
I test drove one. Wasn't impressed. However I believe if you're allowed to turn the traction control off, it stops being stupidly understeery.

My mate has just bought a 2008 350z (313bhp) it is a nice car, faster in a straight line than my S but doesn't feel it so much in car as its much more refined!
Seems more of a day to day car than the S, kinda falls between my current car and my last one (330i).
Would like to have a go in it if he'll let me, then I could show him how to drive it!

I felt they had a lot more weight behind them than the S, and you really noticed that in the corners. More a cruiser than Sunday B road blaster IMO
And despite their size they are still only a 2 seater. I would have expected a 2+2. Also I wasn't that blown away with the interior quality if I'm honest.

Pretty much all the replies sum up my thoughts on them as well, the S is deffo the better sports car which is what I want really, not a GT cruiser thing. For those reasons I'm out and the S will stay
The GT, cruiser and heavy conclusions are often repeated... I suspect repeated rather than concluded.
I have had one for 6 months now and loved it.
For reference I have recently owned an S2000 and Elise 111r, both of which I loved. I have also owned an RX8 which I hated!
My thoughts:
HANDLING
it is heavier than an S2000 so undoubtedly would not perform as well on tight corners. That said a dose of right foot helps out and is great fun,the back end being a) easier to provoke and b) easier to control than an S2000. The 350z also feels so much more planted at high speeds. I would love to drive them back to back on a track and see how they fair against each other.
INTERIOR
I have the GT version and the interior is a very nice place to be in. I think the materials are quality but accept that if you don't have the sat nav you end up with a cheap plastic cubbyhole hole cover in it's place (I have the nav). The seats are also comfortable and hold you well in the corners. It does live to the cruiser label in the respect that you can really munch up miles in this car and get out the other end not feeling it.
ENGINE
A basic 3.5 v6 lump which reliably does what it needs to - provide plenty of power with an awesome sound track! I love it and it gives the car real character much in the way the F20c does for the S2000 and toyota lump does for the 111r. Lots of smiles!
COST
I got an immaculate 2006 facelift model in arguably the best colour (metallic grey), with the GT spec plus more (heated seats, Bose stereo, electric mirrors, sat nav, rays alloys) for £11.5k. I have always applied the "best bang for my buck" when purchasing my cars and this one was no different. I challenge any one to provide me a alternative which is the same value for money.
Servicing seems reasonable.
Depreciation is to be expected especially with the thirsty lump, but there is only so much can lose when you are investing this much.
Fuel economy is not great at 22 mpg but that said I used to get the same from my S2000 (I like to drive my cars!). You can see 30 on a long motorway run if you take it steady.
RELIABILITY
Touch wood - no problems at all so far and the reputation is good. Generally expect hassle free ownership.

Thanks CiderBoy, good info. I'm sure I would enjoy the car, I'm traditionally a datsun boy at heart anyway (skylines/200sx's), but I don't think I'd enjoy it as much for the kind of driving I like to do (B road hooning and trips to north wales with the roof down
)
