My old man's year 2000 Accord is fitted with the Bose tape deck, sub in the boot, but a missing CD changer.

The tape part has just started to give up the ghost, and I dont want to pay hundred for Honda's OEM changer off of Ebay etc that can't even play MP3's, so I thought I'd grab him a shiny new iPod controlling/MP3 cd player.

However; my mind was then drawn back to the joys a friend and I had once making an aftermarket unit work in his Audi TT, also with Bose!

I have found a smorgasbord of connectors on the usual audio websites, but I have heard so many conflicting stories, some say you'll lose the rear channels, some say you'll lose the sub, and some say it can't be done at all!

Can anyone shed some light? In a nutshell; I want to ditch the OEM Bose tape deck, and be left with the usual ISO connectors so that I can run an aftermarket head unit of my choice.

Thanks all.

Dan

Your old man? You're making me feel old. My previous car was a 2001 Accord.

I swapped the cassette player for a Pioneer head unit, via Car Audio Centre in Manchester. When I picked it up, the front L/R worked (of course), as did the rear L/R, but the chap explained that it wouldn't include the sub on the parcel shelf. Apparently "it can't be done". This was a few years back, mind.

Actually, you might wanna check the NSX forums for clues.

We have Bose active speakers (3!) & sub; the connectors are all weird DIN ones, IIRC.

But one can run aftermarket HUs.
