I thought you were saying that progress is largely out of the hands of drivers because of various restrictions

surely you are not?
Never said they were, in fact I mentioned junctions separately.

Never said they weren't, you brought up blues and twos.

Journey times of ordinary folk, on most roads, are subject to factors outside of their control, including obstructive drivers. Fact of life I'm afraid. With blues and twos, the driver is subject to fewer restrictions, so can reduce journey times.

What you gain one one part of a journey, you are just as likely to lose somewhere else. You may get lucky and have green lights and traffic free junctions, or you may get the opposite.

I'm still not sure what point you are trying to make

It's obvious that there are factors that are outside of the area of personal choice - traffic lights being an example

(It's equally obvious that someone who can signify their need for progress using blues and twos can make time on people who cannot)

But obstructive drivers are quite different from fixed factors such as traffic light sequencing

They are obstructive as a result of a deliberate act and therefore should not be viewed as something we should 'live with'

They should be blinded with acid if possible, but since that's difficult on today's congested roads, then their vehicles should be vandalised if the opportunity arises

If neither of the above fantasies can be fulfilled, then the Police should stop worrying about mis-spaced number plates and prosecute these morons instead

I expect the Police would be more interested in prosecuting the morons who speed through ASC zones.

I am in favour of prosecuting morons

Just not in favour of self-appointed trafpol holding up people when they cannot know why those people wish to make faster progress - illegally or not
